In this front page news article I reported on the controversy surrounding the University of Mary Washington’s inclement weather policies, which created online and on campus dialogues regarding the topic. This was applauded for its balanced coverage.

Inspired by UMW’s Students Helping Honduras organization, local rotary clubs and an administrator at UMW joined forces to provide a temporary optical clinic that aided thousands of visually challenged Hondurans.
Recognized as the article with the best lead in this edition of the Bullet, this front page feature captures how war is fought from the home front and the front lines by showcasing a journalist’s multimedia approach to presenting one military family’s story through four deployments.
Given accolades for the descriptive language and strong structure of the piece, this front page news article provides the reader with a complete picture of how the finished building will appear and the information regarding its history, purpose and current state of construction.
